Reasonable cost of FDA approved sunglasses

The cost of sunglasses to say the least is complicated. There are thousands of frame styles and hundreds of Brand names and with that you add thousands of cheap replicas and non-FDA approved sunglasses (for most people hard to tell) and you have chaos, mass confusion. This is where the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) come into play. Sunglasses approved by the FDA must meet Standards that safeguard the consumer from fraud. I recommend FDA approved sunglasses only and the average cost of these sunglasses run between $100 to $300.

The cost of any product including sunglasses is driven by the open market. The market is driven by trends and popularity. Trends and popularity are driven by celebrities and famous people (past & present). And finally, celebrities and famous people are driven by social and public medias. Like some products there are some sunglasses that never go out of style like the Ray Ban Aviator 3025. Since 1936 Ray Ban Aviator 3025 is still being worn today by current celebrities like past celebrities wore before them, partly out of tradition. So, with that being said, here is my cost analysis.

Cost Analysis

Sometimes popularity of a celebrity and what she or he wears can drive the price of sunglasses sky high. Let's take for example Rihanna. Every time she is spotted wearing her Gucci Crystal-Trim Square Sunglasses, despite their cost of $1,380, these flashy rose shaded sunglasses have sold out at most online retailers, including Gucci’s own site. What’s up with that?

To be more practical you can purchase good quality sunglasses FDA approved under $100. Here is how it often works. Let me choose a Bestseller, Ray-Ban RB2132 New Wayfarer sunglasses. This sunglass style comes in 18 different frame/lens combination colors and only one is under $100. For under $100 your only choice of color is Top Rubber Grey with green lenses and only one size 55/18-145. I would recommend this rectangular shape frame to my warm skin, medium size, narrow head, oval, round, and heart shape heads. This is an excellent value with limited choices. But with this excellent value you miss opportunities in looking and seeing your best with the 17 other color and lens options. Take for example, those who fish and like being on the open waters. I would recommend the Havana (frame color) Blue-Green Polarized lenses. Blue is a recommended lens color for deep sea fishing and green for freshwater fishing. Green will help you see fish easier in fresh water especially with brownish dirt bottoms. The polarized lens will help knock down glare reflecting horizontally off the water. These sunglasses would cost you $200, in addition it comes in two sizes small & medium (according to my measurements). I would recommend these sunglasses to my cool skin, small and medium size, narrow face, oval, round, and heart shapes faces.

Cost Divisions

I separate my sunglasses by the following cost divisions. You simply choose the cost, and I will recommend 0-3 sunglasses depending on availability of your head face measurements and or special request, I.e., golfing, fishing, skiing, tennis, mountain climbing, bicycling, etc... Please note that sunglass prices can often change overnight meaning, the cost can go from under a $100 to over a $100 without notice. Either way I will keep you posted. You choose the cost, and I will recommend sunglasses in My Picks for you.

Low-Cost - Cost range under $100

Medium Cost - Cost range $100 - $300 (most people)

High-Cost - cost range $300 - $600 (high end)

Top of the line - cost range $600 or more

The Reason I Created This Website

I automatically recommend sunglasses based on your input with Option A, B, C (face shape only), or Optout (choose your own sunglasses). Most recommended sunglasses are medium cost with occasional low- or high-end cost. This is done in a matter of minutes saving you enormous time going through countless sunglasses that leave you more confused. With decades of experience dispensing eyeglasses, I found that a Minimum of 75% of the time a person will spend hours, days, weeks, and even months looking at all the countless options and coming back to choose the first pair of sunglasses recommended or the first one they chose. This is real talk and the real reason I created this website.
